SAT / ACT Coaching Found to Slightly Improve Scores

A new report released by the National Association of College Admission Counseling found that  SAT and ACT coaching slightly improved scores.   According to the report, a typical increase is 30 points on the SAT (combined  math and reading scores) and less than one point on the ACT.   However, at some colleges, a relatively minor gain could enhance a student’s opportunity for admission.

The report also criticized  the testing practices of some study prep centers, where practice tests may be harder than actual exams, inflating perceived gains.  Read the entire article from the Wall Street Journal.
