Friday, February 12th, 2010MIT received a record number of early action applications this year for the Class of 2014. The numbers, along with those from the enrolled Class of 2013, reveal some interesting stats .
Early Action – Class of 2014
- Early action (EA) applicants: 5,684
- Increase over last year’s record: 13%
- Applicants deferred to regular-action admissions: 3,893
- Students admitted EA: 590
- EA admits who are first-generation college students: 14%
- EA admits who are members of underrepresented minority groups: 27%
- Women EA admits: 47%
Class of 2013 – Enrolled Students
- Class of 2013 enrolled students who are first generation to college: 19%
- Class of 2013 enrolled students who speak a foreign language at home: 48%, with 78 languages represented
