MIT By The Numbers

MIT received a record number of early action applications this year for the Class of 2014.   The numbers, along with those from the enrolled Class of 2013, reveal some interesting stats .

Early Action – Class of 2014

  • Early action (EA) applicants: 5,684
  • Increase over last year’s record: 13%
  • Applicants deferred to regular-action admissions: 3,893
  • Students admitted EA: 590
  • EA admits who are first-generation college students: 14%
  • EA admits who are members of underrepresented minority groups: 27%
  • Women EA admits: 47%

Class of 2013 – Enrolled Students

  • Class of 2013 enrolled students who are first generation to college: 19%
  • Class of 2013 enrolled students who speak a foreign language at home: 48%, with 78 languages represented
