Ivy League, Stanford & Duke Report Increase in Early Applications

Penn, Brown University, Duke University and Dartmouth College reported increases in early decision applications for the Class of 2014. Yale University, which has a non-binding early action programs, experienced a 5-percent decrease in applications. Stanford University, offering a single-choice early option action saw a 4-percent increase in applications.

U.S. News & Forbes Publish 2010 College Rankings

College Board’s Score Choice Sets Off Debate and Angst — Some Schools to Require All SAT Scores

The College Board’s new policy that lets students report selected SAT scores has set off both a national debate and heightened anxiety. Until now, students who took the SAT more than once had no choice but to submit scores from all test administration dates. Score Choice eliminates that requirement, except when the college or university opposes the policy.

Admission Yield & Waitlist Update for Class of 2013

Admission yields at Ivy League institutions were in the estimated range. Harvard University’s yield remained at 76%. Yale University reported a 68% yield and the yield at Dartmouth decreased by two percent from last year to 49%. According to published sources, all of the Ivy League schools, except Yale, expressed plans to accept students from their waitlists. Princeton University is expected to admit 31 waitlisted students. Harvard University is expected to admit least 85 students off the waitlist. MIT admitted 63 students (including some international students) off the waitlist to the Class of 2013.

7% Admitted at Harvard - Record Rejections at Ivy Schools

Despite the poor economy, interest in attending many of America’s most competitive colleges and universities has not subsided.
According to the New York Times, this year, 7 percent of applicants will be admitted to the Class of 2013 at Harvard, down from 8 percent last year.
