Late February is Decision Time for freshman applicants to the University of Florida. For the Class of 2024, decisions were released on Friday, February 28, at 6 p.m. ET. More than 45,000 freshman applications were received for the November 1 priority deadline.
As reported in the Independent Florida Alligator, the University of Florida accepted 14,561 freshmen to the class of 2024, on February 28, 2020, of the 49,401 people who applied to UF according to UF spokesperson Steve Orlando.
The number of applications UF receives each year is steadily climbing. For the class of 2023, there were about 41,000 applicants, which means that more than 8,000 more people applied for the class of 2024. Sources attribute UF’s decision to join the Common Application for some of the increase. Insiders expect applications to continue to climb in future years.
The Independent Florida Alligator article contains additional information from UF spokesperson Steve Orlando. 11,115 were accepted for Fall 2020 and 3,443 were accepted for the Summer B term. These numbers are similar to last year’s numbers of about 3,000 and 11,000 respectively. There were 3,719 students accepted to PaCE, or the Pathway to Campus Enrollment, about 600 more students than those who were accepted to the program last year. Students who enroll in PaCE are required to start their degrees online but can transfer to courses on-campus after they earn 60 credits. More than 600 students were accepted into the Innovation Academy, compared to 500 last year. Innovation Academy operates on a Spring-Summer calendar to allow students to utilize the fall semester for internships and other extracurricular activities. Students offered a spot in the Honors Program are notified via their admission letter.
According to UF, students who did not receive a decision should review their Check Your Status page thoroughly to see if further application materials are required or missing. Applicants who are still missing materials or submitted materials late will not receive a decision until late March.
Admitted students have until the May 1, 2020 reply date to secure their spot.
