The University of Florida grabbed headlines in the summer of 2019 with its decision to join the Common Application. The move which delighted high school counselors and students is sure to boost applications.
“Starting with the 2019-20 application cycle, the University of Florida will accept both the Common Application and the Coalition Application.” UF had exclusively taken the Coalition Application during the past few years.
While it’s too early to tell how significantly UF’s decision to accept the Common Application for freshman admissions will attract more in-state and out-of-state applicants, it is worth noting that applications to the University of Michigan increased more than 25% in the application year 2011 when UMichigan began accepting the Common Application. Applications to the University of Michigan have more than doubled since adopting the Common Application.
